The Stations of the Cross were carved in Bavaria, Germany, and purchased in Munich, Germany in 1862. Originally all of these carvings and the inscriptions were written in German. The existing English  inscriptions were written on brown metal and placed over the original German. If these metal plaques were removed, the original German inscriptions would appear.
